Six things that keep readings accurate

  1. 1Sit still for five minutes first. Back supported, legs uncrossed, feet flat.
  2. 2Rest the cuffed arm on a table so the cuff sits level with your heart.
  3. 3No coffee, cigarettes or exercise in the 30 minutes before.
  4. 4Empty your bladder first. A full one can add several points.
  5. 5Take two readings a minute apart and log both. The app averages them.
  6. 6Use the same arm and roughly the same time of day each time.

This is a diary, not a diagnosis. Categories follow the thresholds used for home monitoring in the UK, where 135/85 is the line for high blood pressure. Everything stays on this device.
